Assert and Verify Commands in Selenium

Hello Everyone, I am new in this community and I am learning selenium to get a job in automation testing and I have confused in some topics like the difference between assert and verify commands in Selenium? In my previous interview i was stuck on this question and finding exact difference. Can anyone know about it? and guide me on how to prepare for the interview with real time scenarios.
